Why reading and writing is the road to happiness...

This blog started years ago as a place to muse on the life projects keeping me entertained. It is no surprise then that it has morphed into a blog about my reading as that has been my lifelong project. Here I review lots of different types of books, with an added focus on Australian women writers. Hope you enjoy - feel free to contribute to the conversation!

Gardening - Good Friday Working Bee

Had a great first working bee today, planted the first citrus trees and sorted out the front yard. We've planted a Tahitian Lime, Lemon, Mandarin and Orange tree, and a native Finger Lime. Out the front we've transplanted our Frangipani tree that was slowly having the life sapped out of it by being contained in a pot on an apartment balcony. It breathed a sigh of relief when it was put into the dirt, like someone easing off their shoes after a hard day of work. The mixed lettuce leaves that I planted in a pot have gone gang busters this week and we managed to get a salad out of them - delish! No chemicals, and barely a blemish on the leaves. Let the edible garden begin!
A fruit is a vegetable with looks and money.  Plus, if you let fruit rot, it turns into wine, something Brussels sprouts never do.
